What to Expect on a German Workshop Trial Day
Probearbeit is common in skilled trades. You may spend a morning on routine tasks rather than a staged test. Arrive with safety shoes if you have them, and ask ahead about required PPE.
Managers watch how you organise a bench, whether you ask before borrowing tools, and how you leave the area. Speed matters less than careful work that does not create rework for the next shift.
Bring two or three precise questions: material suppliers, typical ticket sizes, and who signs off completed work. These show you are thinking about fitting into their rhythm.
If language is still developing, prepare the vocabulary for the tools of your trade. Pointing works for a minute; naming the tool builds trust faster.
